Refer a Patient
to Pimpama Physiotherapy

If you have a patient who needs physiotherapy, at home or in our Pimpama clinic, you can refer them to us in a couple of minutes. We see people for both neurological rehabilitation and everyday musculoskeletal care, across the Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane, and we work with most major funding bodies. Here is how to refer, what to include and what happens once we receive it.

How To Refer A Patient

The quickest way to refer is our online physio referral form. It takes a few minutes and lets you upload any relevant files. Prefer email? Send the details to admin@pimpamaphysio.com.au and we will take it from there.

To help us triage and book the right appointment, please include:

  • The patient’s name and contact details

  • The reason for referral and relevant medical history

  • The funding pathway (NDIS, DVA, WorkCover, Medicare, Support at Home or private)

  • Any scans, reports or letters that give us context

  • Anything time-sensitive we should know about

What Happens After You Refer

Once a referral lands with us, here is what to expect:

  • We aim to respond within 24 to 48 hours of receiving your referral.

  • We contact the patient directly to book their first appointment.

  • We email you to confirm once the appointment is locked in.

  • We keep you updated through treatment, so you always know how your patient is tracking.

Doctor Consulting Patient

Why Refer To Pimpama Physiotherapy

A few things worth knowing about who you are referring to.

It is uncommon for one team to handle both complex neurological rehabilitation and everyday musculoskeletal care. If your patient is managing both, say recovery after a stroke alongside ongoing back or shoulder pain, they do not have to split their care across two providers.

We work mobile and in clinic. We come to patients who cannot easily travel, and we have a clinic for more intensive, equipment-based sessions. The patient chooses the setting that suits them, and home visits run across the Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane.

For Support at Home and aged care patients, our physiotherapists can recommend basic mobility aids and home modifications, like rails or a walking frame, and our occupational therapists can assess the home and prescribe equipment. It is a practical addition that many clinics do not offer.

We also keep referrers in the loop. We work alongside GPs, specialists, support coordinators, case managers and other allied health, with clear written and verbal communication. You referred the patient, so you stay informed.

Referrals By Funding Pathway

We accept referrals across the major funding pathways. Eligibility depends on the individual’s plan and circumstances, so if you are not sure, get in touch and we will help you work it out.

  • For NDIS participants, we are registered for self-managed and plan-managed participants, and physiotherapy usually sits under capacity building supports.

  • DVA Gold and White Card holders are covered for clinically necessary physiotherapy, generally referred on the D904 form.

  • WorkCover Queensland patients can be seen as part of an accepted claim.

  • Under Medicare, eligible patients on a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan can claim subsidised allied health visits.

  • For older patients, we provide physiotherapy through Support at Home and aged care after a My Aged Care assessment, including home visits.

  • If your patient is a participant of the National Injury Insurance Scheme Queensland (NIISQ), they may be eligible for rehabilitation services under the scheme. Contact us to discuss their situation.

What happens next?

We strive to see all new referrals within 24–48 hours of receipt. Once an appointment is confirmed with the participant, we will email you to let you know.

Have questions?

Whether you need help with the form, are wondering which pathway fits best, or want to discuss a specific patient, we are here to help. Call us at 0432 730 386.

Are You a Patient, Not a Referrer?

You do not need a referral to see us for private physiotherapy. You can book online directly or call us on 0432 730 386. If a funding body is paying for your care, we can talk you through what you need.

Funding eligibility depends on the individual’s circumstances and plan. If you are unsure which pathway applies to your patient, contact us and we will help you work it out before the first appointment.
