Aged Care Physiotherapy
on the Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane

Staying mobile is what keeps life your own. Getting out of a chair without help. Walking to the letterbox. Staying steady on your feet.

As we get older that can get harder, often because of stiffness, weaker muscles, poorer balance or conditions like arthritis and osteoporosis. Aged care physiotherapy helps you hold on to your mobility and independence for as long as possible. We see you at home or at our Pimpama clinic, across the Gold Coast, Logan and Brisbane.

How Aged Care Physiotherapy Helps You Stay Independent

After a full assessment, we build a plan around what you want to keep doing. Common areas we work on include

01. Mobility and Balance

We check your strength, balance, walking and flexibility, then target the areas holding you back.

Back Pain Treatment

04. Pain Management

Long-term pain is common as we age. We use hands-on treatment, exercise and simple strategies like heat and ice to ease pain and keep you moving.

02. Falls Prevention

We find what is raising your fall risk, then work on balance, strength and home safety to lower it.

05. Education and Home Exercises

We show you how to move safely, lower your fall risk and keep progressing, with a home exercise plan you can manage on your own.

Resistance Band

03. Strength and Conditioning

Muscle naturally fades with age, which affects balance and getting up from a chair. We use safe, gradual exercises to rebuild the strength that matters most for daily life.

Why Falls Prevention Matters for Older Adults

Falls are the leading cause of injury hospitalisations and injury deaths among older Australians, and about one in three people over 65 have a fall each year (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare). The encouraging part is that this risk can be lowered.

A Cochrane review of 108 trials found that exercise programs reduce the rate of falls by about 23 percent, with balance and functional training working best and larger effects when a physiotherapist guides the program. That is the core of what we do in a falls prevention plan.

Aged Care Physiotherapy at Home or in the Clinic

Many older clients prefer to be seen at home, and there is a real advantage to it. We see how you move in your own space: the step at the front door, the bathroom and the kitchen. For clients at home, our physiotherapists can suggest simple aids and changes, such as rails or ramps, to make daily life safer.

Our occupational therapists can assess your home and recommend equipment too. When you want more space or equipment, our Pimpama clinic is there as well.

Funding Aged Care Physiotherapy Through Support at Home

Most of our older clients are funded through Support at Home, the Australian Government's main in-home aged care program. It replaced Home Care Packages and Short-Term Restorative Care on 1 November 2025. If you were on a Home Care Package before then, your funding moved across automatically.

If you receive entry-level support through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP), that program is still running and can also cover physiotherapy. CHSP is separate from Support at Home and is not due to change until at least 1 July 2027. Support at Home can also include funding for some assistive technology and home modifications, depending on your assessment.

We also work with DVA, Medicare for eligible chronic-condition referrals and private health funds. Eligibility depends on your individual circumstances and plan, so contact us and we will help you find the right pathway.
