SHOULDER & ROTATOR CUFF PAIN
Shoulder & Rotator Cuff Pain: Restoring Stability and Pain-Free Movement
The shoulder is the most mobile joint in the body, which is what lets you reach overhead, throw, swim and lift - but that mobility comes at a cost. Shoulder pain is one of the most common complaints we see at our Pimpama physio clinic, and rotator cuff issues account for a big chunk of those.

What is the rotator cuff?
The rotator cuff is a group of four small but important muscles that wrap around the shoulder joint and keep it stable. When one or more of these tendons gets irritated, torn or weakened, lifting your arm can become painful - especially overhead, behind your back, or sleeping on that side at night.

Common shoulder problems we treat
-
Rotator cuff–related shoulder pain (impingement, tendinopathy)
-
Rotator cuff tears (partial and full thickness)
-
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) - gradually losing movement, especially rotation
-
Shoulder instability and dislocations
-
AC (acromioclavicular) joint sprains - the bump on top of the shoulder
-
Bursitis
-
Post-surgery rehabilitation for rotator cuff repairs and shoulder reconstructions
-
Referred pain from the neck

How we treat shoulder pain
The shoulder doesn’t work in isolation — what’s happening at the neck, upper back, shoulder blade and even the core can all affect it. A good shoulder rehab plan considers the whole picture.

Early on, treatment focuses on settling pain through hands-on techniques, gentle movement and load management. As things calm down, we layer in specific strengthening for the rotator cuff and the shoulder blade muscles, then progress to functional movements relevant to your goals — whether that’s getting back to swimming, lifting at work, or just being able to reach into the back seat without wincing.

Most shoulder problems respond well to physio without needing surgery or injections. If imaging or specialist review is needed, we’ll let you know and help coordinate it.
